Demand response policy is an energy conservation solution that reduces peak loading through the cooperation of users who reduce electricity use. The accumulation of energy saved across a large user group can form a virtual power plant, reducing loading on the power plant while giving customer rewards for saving energy - a win-win situation for all. In the 4th quarter of 2016, Cheng Long Intelligent Engineering and EnerNOC of USA formed EnerNOC Taiwan. They introduced the demand response concept for the first timer and called for the cooperation of energy users in all industries. It acted as an aggregator to sign a contract with Taipower to reduce electricity usage by 200,000 MW throughout the contract term.
